WHAT IS THE MAQUI BERRY?
The Maqui berry is the most potent antioxidant superfruit in the world with seven times the antioxidant qualities of acai and nine time that of goji.*
Maqui (Aristotelia chilensis) is a native berry that only grows in the wild forest of the South of Chile, consumption of the berry by indigenous Mapuche peoples dates back thousands of years.
Maqui berry is considered to be the most powerful antioxidant superfruit for being rich in polyphenols, anthocyanins, delphinidins, and other nutrients. This helps decrease free radicals, which are agents that can be highly reactive and oxidative in the body, thereby providing protection against cancer causing processes and the negative affects of aging.
The Maqui berry grows on an evergreen tree which grows 3 to 4 meters high.
It is a small edible berry between 4 to 5 mm in diameter, with a distinct and delicious dry flavor and an intense deep purple color.
A team of local collectors is responsible for harvesting the fruit, using friendly techniques with the environment and maximizing the collection process.
It is harvested between November and March, accordingly its regional localization.

CHILE
Chile is an exceptional bioclimatic island with aggressive climate conditions for plants to grow in.
Rich Chilean soils combined with a unique microclimate created by the Andes mountains and Humboldt current are also stressed by high levels of sun radiation and large variations in temperature.
Plants that grow under these conditions contain unique phytochemical profiles that are not found in any other place in the world. These plants contain 30%- 40% more health-bearing molecules than their counterparts cultivated in other regions.
The unique harvest process and bioprocessing methodology help to maintain the purity of both the plans and the fruits.
The climate improves the quality of the berries, which result in a higher concentration of antioxidants and delphinidins. Our special indigenous Maqui berries are carefully selected by hand and harvested by families of collectors from wild forests and fields in Chile who follow old traditions that have been preserved by centuries in the Mapuche Communities.

MAQUI BERRY
The most potent antioxidant superfruit in the world. The Secret of the Chilean Native Forest.
Maqui berries have seven times the antioxidant qualities of acai and nine time that of goji berries.
DIFFERENTIATING CAPACITY
The antioxidant qualities of foods are measured in ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units developed by the National Institutes of Health and USDA to measure the efficacy in neutralizing degenerative and disease-causing free radicals.
The Maqui berries exhibit the highest ORAC* capacity amongst berries.
MAQUI BERRY HAS THE HIGHEST CONTENT OF DELPHINIDINS OF ALL KNOWN BERRIES
Maqui berry is one of the most power-packed berries with anthocyanins in comparison to all fruits and berries for supplemental consumption of flavonoids due it’s anthocyanin composition of 25% Cyanidins and 75% Delphinidins. Both Cyanidins and Delphinidins have been extensively researched, which have concluded its various health benefits.

DELPHINOL® MAQUI BERRY AS POWERFUL SOURCE FOR POTENT POLYPHENOLS
A study carried at a university in Chile compared the polyphenol content in different berries, by just preparing the juice of berries. They compared the amounts of flavonoids present in berries and also established the “total radical absorbance potency”, the latter being a similar antioxidant potency test like “ORAC”. They found that brighter berries typically bear lower flavonoid quantities than darker berries, such as the blackberry.
Researchers discovered that the maqui berry bears approximately three-times as many polyphenols than the blackberry and correspondingly has about three-fold antioxidant potency as the blackberry. Investigations such as these generated a first interest in maqui berries with regard to their health contributions.
DELPHINOL® SUPERIOR FULL-SPECTRUM ANTIOXIDANT ORAC POTENCY
Delphinol has been analysed at the Brunswick Laboratories for estimation of the total ORAC value.
The most recent ORAC testing protocol was employed, which investigates the efficacy of an antioxidant for extinguishing five different oxygen radicals.
Delphinol was shown to extinguish all five radical species and yields a total ORAC potency of 30,852 micro-mol Trolox equivalents per gram of the extract.
DELPHINOL® ANTI-INFLAMMATION
DELPHINOL® SUPERIORFULL-SPECTRUM ANTIOXIDANT ORAC POTENCY
The transcription factor nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) is activated by oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory stimuli and controls the expression of numerous genes involved in the inflammatory response.
Dampening NF-kB activation limits the inflammatory response, which has been suggested as a potential strategy to prevent chronic inflammatory diseases.

DELPHINOL® ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT IN VIVO MODEL
Inflammation was induced in Sprague Dawley rats using 1% carrageenan.
The diameter of the injuries were measured and calculated as the area under the curve (AUC0-6).
Reduced plantar edema (*p<0.05); this reduction was similar to that achieved with the positive control agent, diclofenac (**p<0.01).
